Film Lesson: Doctor Zhivago

The movie Dr. Zhivago shows how Russia began to change during WWI. Lenin is leading the communist to take over Russia. There is no more czar. Communism means equality within all people and only the government rules. There is nobody richer than anybody else. In this movie Dr. Zhivago brother is part of the soviet union. Since Lenin is progressing to take over they move 13 families to Dr. Zhivago house. He has a big house since he is a doctor and wealthy. Since he lived in Moscow he realized the complete difference in the society. the people didn't want the czar because he controlled everything the way he wanted. Majority of the people were poor and were ordered by the richer people. They were like slaves and were punished the way the rich wanted to punish them. They didn't like this. Communism would make everybody equal.

Causes of WW1

World War I was the result of leaders' aggression towards other countries which was supported by the rising nationalism of the European nations. Economic and imperial competition and fear of war prompted military alliances and an arms race, which further escalated the tension contributing to the outbreak of war.

This was based on competition within the nations. As the power of the nations grew, so did nationalism rise, and as well as militarism.
Franz Ferdinand was the archduke of austria. On June 28, 1914, at approximately 11:00 am, Franz Ferdinand and his wife were killed. They were assasinated bgy a serbian. This caused the great was becuase all the aliances from austria hungary and the alliances from serbia to go to war. As one country defended the other the was was rising more dangerously in all of europe.
As franze ferdinand was assanitated, other little piences caused these countries to explode against each other.
As the poeple wanted to revolt against thier own nations russia and austria hungary ended up losing territories after ww1.
great britiain and germany raced to have the best navies. it was thier compitition and caused them to go against each other in the war. france, germany and russia competed in building the best most powerful armies causing mittions of tons of weapons being produce. factories were making alot of money.
the alliances were: germany, austria hunagry and italy to form the triple alliance in 1882.
great britain , france and russia formed the triple entente in 1907

The Opium War

China believe that they were a independent country so they didn't want to deal with other countries. Britain had something that Chinese people wouldn't resist that is call "opium," Chinese people used to use it as drugs. Britain wanted to deal with China because they wanted China's tea. After a few time Chinese people started to become addicted to opium. China's government started to get angry because opium was destroying their people and the whole country. In order to stop this they didn't want to deal with, The outcome of the war was predictable. The Chinese people lost miserably. China was no match for the British technology and better weapons.

"The White Man's Burden"

The white man burden was written by Rudyard Kipling in 1899. it was originally written for queen Victoria. It was perfectly normal that white men constantly tried to colonize and rule people of other nations for their own benefit, both the people and the work may be seen as representing the "burden" of the title. I agree with the analysis because white people were traveling around exploring the world and robing resources from other nations. Two nations for example are Africa and India. Once the white people found the cure for malaria and their technology advanced they were unstoppable with their machines guns. Well whenever a country will have the power to control another country it is possible that imperialism to occur again.

The Scramble For Africa

The term "Scrabble for Africa" meant how European countries ( France, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Germany, Italy, and Portugal) were so obsessed with the new land that everybody wanted Africa for their resources. They were all competing for resources. There resources were gold, wood, rubber, iron, tin, diamond, silver, copper, salt, ivory and other valuables. They were able to dominate Africa because they just invented
the machine gun and they also found the cure for malaria. With the cure of malaria they were able to go to the jungles and not die of the mosquitoes bites.

Most of the new things that the Africans were know affect them because they had to gave to the British people some of them lands and they kill some of the people of Africa and separated some of them tribes, also this provided the families separated each one.
